A gift, a memory

"I need to search for something. I'll be back!"

He rushed himself straight away, right after the words were uttered, not looking directly at her nor looking back.

"Okay, i'll be with the rest. See you in sec."

All she cared was the lovely setting of York laid around her.

There are several old book stores in-between others and they all look just the same the last time he came. When was that? 2007? Ahh.. Spring..hmm, March something.. He tried to recall.

From one corner to the other he traced back his memory. It was this one bookstore that he had his moment. And he needed to find that first.

It wasn't that hard to traced. The minute he was sure, he stepped inside and from that particular moment, the past flashed back, as if she was there, standing beside him. As if he was there too standing beside her, checking on the books at the shelves, not knowing exactly what she was searching.

Slowly he went closer to that section, to that same spot he once stood, trying to forget the past, rummaging through the titles of the book.

Which one did she had to put back?

"Oh, my! Maybe i should put this back. I think i had spent enough with the other two books. Plus this one is more expensive, don't you think?"

She looked disappointed but hopeful and confused at the same time.

He wanted to pay for her but she did not let him.

Just by being there had refreshed the conversation they once had. And now even he was confused if he were to pick one.

"Give me the title from the last time."

There was no way he could surprised her. He needed to be sure. So there goes the text to the other continent of the world.

"I couldn't remember but, it can be any of these... Look, you don't have to buy the book for me. But, thank you :)"

....
.....

"You told her we came here?"

The first thing she asked when he came back joining the rest.

"No, i didn't, why should i?"

Like he had no idea what she was talking about.

"Oh, come one.. How many years I've known you?"

He replied with a squeaky smile and looked away.

...................
......

The title was more than i had expected.

It is never enough to say thank you. The minute i flipped through the pages filled with pervasive moments, i knew that i owed you a bouquet of thank you. And only tonight that i had the time to look into each pages, one breath at a time.

So thank you to you, for the gift of our memory..
